Putting it all together

Class,
This video is great way to see how an emergency situation is handled and what roles health care providers take on in getting the baby delivered as quickly as possible. The strip is reviewed to demonstrate what characteristics made this situation an emergency. The nurse then called for help and began delegating roles to others to ensure an immediate delivery.

Hearing the heartbeat

Class,
I have posted a video from you tube that allows you to hear what the baby's heartbeat sounds like when using ultrasound or doppler. Often you will hear swishing noises in the background which is the sound of the baby moving within the uterus. Another fun feature is auscultating the heartbeat when the baby has hiccups. This is not a hard feature to miss!

Example of Mind Map

Class, I finally figured it out! It may be kind of small but this is an example of a mindmap using late decelerations as the center topic. The four circles from there are shape, significance, treatment, and if it is reassuring or not. Each of the those four circles then has characteristics to support each of the four circles. Hope this helps and sorry it took me so long to figure it out!  A perfect example of how instructors do not always know how to use the technology right away either and we have to teach ourselves!

Example of Mind Mind

Okay, so I found a way to access my example of a mindmap. However, you have to use this link a little differently to open the document. So, highlight the link below and select copy. Then open a new window and paste the link in the url box and press enter. You will then be prompted to either save or open and you will just click on open and then you should be able to view. If you are still not able to view this document, let me know. Hope it works!

Mind Mapping

This week our lesson plan focused on fetal heart rate interpretation and the different characteristics used to interpret a fetal heart rate tracing. Your activity for this assignment was to publish a mind map using one of the characteristics from the lecture. I have provided a few links for you to use as a resource for making your mind map and I have an example of a mind map I made but I am having troubles uploading it the blog so bare with me as I continue to try and upload this. In the mean time, use these provided links as a resource and please let me know if I can help you. This activity should be fun and you should try and be as creative as possible. Let your creativity soar!
